Banner used to mark the home of the deceased in memorial rituals, with ikat geometric designs in red and black woven cotton. Acquired in the 1970s-1980 by the original owner, who purchased a number of antique Indonesian textiles from Anita E. Spertus and Robert J. Holmgren, authors of "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures", published 1989 in conjunction with the exhibit "Early Indonesian Textiles from Three Island Cultures" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. Approx. 65" x 27".Provenance: Estate of Cayce Odom of Charlottesville, VA.
