Offered in this lot is a RARE 1884 first edition Volume I and 1885 Volume II of “The Soldier in Our Civil War: A Pictorial History of the Conflict, 1861 - 1865" edited by Paul F. Mottelay. The book contains eye-witness sketches and stories. The book was edited by Paul F Mottelay, with an introduction by Robert B. Beath, past Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic. The book is in fair-to-poor overall condition for the age of over 140 years; there is heavy damage to the outside spine of the cover of Volume I. The book is leather bound with a gold gilt cover and spine. The book measures 12 1/2" x 17".
