Description
R. GLEASON & SONS SILVER-PLATED SIX-PIECE COFFEE AND TEA SERVICE, each piece having a repousse floral design featuring two cartouches to sides with engraved "H" to one side and "W" to the other side, raised on a lobed pedestal foot, comprising a coffee pot, two teapots, a covered sugar, a creamer, and a waste bowl. Three pieces with maker's mark to bases, pots without mark. Together with a later large silver-plated serving tray by Goldfeder Silver Co. of Yalesville, CT. Seven pieces total. Roswell Gleason & Sons, Dorchester, MA. Third quarter 19th century. Tray 32" x 20 1/4".
Condition
Fair to very good overall condition with wear, surface scratches, and other imperfections including dents, bending, spots of loss to silver, and/or worn spots to decoration; service with some pieces having solder repairs, cover finials slightly to moderately loose with three lacking second securing nut, coffee pot lacking handle insulator.
