Description
A Six-Piece R. Wallace & Sons Mfg. Co. Rhythm Pattern Silver Tea and Coffee Service, Wallingford, Connecticut, circa 1930 Marks to coffee pot: (RW-stag-&S), STERLING, 3900, RHYTHM, 3 PTS, WALLACE, 3 10-1/4 x 10 x 3 inches (26.0 x 25.4 x 7.6 cm) (tallest, coffee pot) 4760 grams Exhibition History: Indianapolis Museum of Art, 2017-2021 The Rhythm pattern tea and coffee service comprising teapot, coffee pot, open sugar, covered sugar, creamer and tray, each monogrammed P. The lot accompanied by a copy of Modernism in American Silver: 20th Century Design. I fell in love with this exceptional art deco silver design by Percy B. Ball (American, b. England, 1879-1957) when the Dallas Museum of Art acquired the Jewel Stern Collection that contains an identical example. They are so rare that I never dreamed I'd own one personally, but endless searching finally paid off. If you want a monument in American deco silver this is a rare opportunity. CV
