Northern Europe, England and Northern France, Medieval Period, ca. 7th to 14th century CE. A fine collection of 8 silver, bronze, and brass brooches. The first brooch is the only one without an openwork body and presents an annular, shield-like form with a projecting knob at the center. The next 2 each boast a hexagonal form; one with glass inlay bezels in 4 corners. The fourth fibula presents a pentagonal form adorned with incised patterns. Last, the final 4 pieces all exhibit circular forms with incised radiating or geometric designs; 1 of which is made from silver and features a sword-form pin. Size of largest: 1" Diameter (2.5 cm); Size (silver brooch): 0.6" W (1.5 cm); silver quality: 92.9%; weight of silver brooch: 1.2 grams

Shield-form brooch is missing pin and thus not wearable. The remaining 7 are intact and have pin, but wear is not recommended. All have expected nicks, abrasions, and softening of details, commensurate with age and wear. Otherwise, all are very nice with lovely patina.
