Item Details
Description
Oil on canvas. 27 x 43 1/4 inches (canvas); 33 x 49 (frame). Circa 1930s. Signed lower right.

Note: Feigl's celebrated work "Shepherdess by the sea," exhibited in the Hugo Feigl Gallery (Prague) in 1931 bears strong similarities to the subject matter in this painting which is also believed to have been inspired by and created during or slightly after his trip to Palestine. Feigl traveled to Palestine around 1931. A rare and previously unknown painting by this noted Austrian-Hungarian(Czech)and Jewish expressionist.
Condition
This painting would benefit from a light cleaning. Minor craquelure, not readily apparent and consistent with age. A small scuff center left. The frame has significant age related distress and wear. Nothing adverse observed under black light. (Please note, this is not a full condition report. Please email us at: info@Vallots.com for a detailed condition report or for additional photographs. Every lot is sold as-is.)
