Description
JOHN TALLIS (1817-1876) A 'GOLD RUSH' MAP, "Mexico, California and Texas," LONDON, EDINBURGH AND DUBLIN, CIRCA 1851, hand-colored lithograph on paper, "The Illustrations by H. Warren & Engraved by J. Rogers," and, "The Map Drawn & Engraved by J. Rapkin.," vignettes of miners gold washing accompanied by a hand-colored, "The Newly Discovered GOLD Districts colored thus," and "Mexican Peasantry," within a border of scrolling aloe veras, melons, squashes, grapes, prickly cactus, wilting palm fronds, pomegranates and other exotic flora, sheet: 10 1/2" x 14 1/4".
Condition
Minimal hand coloring, minor surface wear, a loss of one corner, verso pencil inscription, overall in good condition. Unframed.
