This is a wonderful yet mysterious wood sculpture from the Gona / Shona peoples, Zimbabwe, a very stylized old lion sculpture that has the words "Gona rekurapa nemhondoro kubva 1830" which roughly translates as " Able to treat Dementia since 1830". The sculpture has good age and measures 15.25 inches x 9 inches. Provenance: A Private New Jersey collection.
