Remington was an American artist and writer who focused on the American West, featuring Indians, cattlemen, and the U.S. Cavalry. “Pony Tracks” is a collection of fifteen sketches of army and sporting life, mainly in the western United States and northern Mexico written and illustrated by Frederic Remington during his time with the US Cavalry. His sketches include a Sioux outbreak in South Dakota, a rodeo at Los Ojos, policing the Yellowstone, the colonel of the First Cycle Infantry, Christmas in a Sibley tepee, bear-chasing in the Rocky Mountains, and more!
