In 1884 Theodore Roosevelt purchased two cattle ranches near Medora on the Little Missouri River in North Dakota.
This book first published in 1888 was an account of his two years in the West. Remington's illustrations reflect his own experiences in the American West. This book features 94 illustrations including impressive full-page engravings, as well as descriptions on camp life, cattle herding and trails, and interactions with native Americans.
