Description
"John and Judith Jenkins'" Staffordshire Pearlware Marriage Tea Caddy, Circa 1795. Molded in high relief and heightened in blue enamel on two sides with a putto holding a bird aloft in one hand and a bird's nest in the other, and on the opposing two sides with a putto holding floral roping, inscribed on the top "Iohn Jenkins" and on the opposite side "Judith Jenkins." H: 5 in., W: 3.5 in., D: 3.5 in. Provenance: Affixed with a paper label inscribed "Swansea Pottery, Fellow caddy in South Kensington Museum, purchased from Haliburton collection for L...marked To M Harris 179(?);" and a later label "From Hobart House, Box 128, Haddam, Conn. 06438".
