Description
This carte-de-visite (CDV) depicts an engraving of Liberty mourning over the casket of Abraham Lincoln. While this engraving was reproduced in various formats after the assassination, what makes this particular copy special is that it was created and sold by the Tyson Brothers of Gettysburg. Cartes de visite produced by Gettysburg makers are highly desirable; this one is particularly special as a mourning piece sold in the very town where Lincoln made his most famous speech. The image is in good condition with clipped corners (likely done to fit the image into an album) and some minor wear.
