Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Chorrera culture, ca. 9th to 4th century BCE; Jamacoaque, ca. 500 CE. A fine set of 2 pottery stamp seals from two ancient Ecuadoran cultures. First is a Chorrera stamp with a rectangular body boasting a series of incised linear and spiral motifs which resemble the wing of a large bird. Second is a Jamacoaque stamp of a rectangular form with rounded corners boasting an elaborate scene of abstract geometric motifs coursing across the stamp face. Both stamps have conical handles on the verso. Size of largest (Jamacoaque): 5.1" L x 2.3" W (13 cm x 5.8 cm).

Condition
Both stamps have light abrasions and small nicks to stamp bodies and handles, with light softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits throughout.
