Description
Finely detailed and masterfully crafted bronze sculpture of Guanyin. We believe this was made in the period of the ‘??? The Qianlong Emperor’ (1735 ~ 1796) of Qing dynasty, China. Circa 1780, the condition of this piece is excellent with very mild wear. Size: 25H x 8W x 7D inches. Signed on the bottom. This is a stunning piece and the pics do not do it justice. Expect to pay $5000 plus in a gallery! This piece is from our long time art collector in England. In Chinese mythology, Guanyin (??) is the goddess of mercy and considered to be the physical embodiment of compassion. She is an all-seeing, all-hearing being who is called upon by worshipers in times of uncertainty, despair, and fear. Guanyin is originally based on the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara.
