Description
A vintage oil on canvas abstract painting Autumn in Sednev, 1973, by Yuri Andreevich Kovalenko, Ukrainian, Soviet, 1931 - 2004. Signed and dated on the lower right and verso. Yuri Kovalenko was a painter and theater artist. Was born in Priluki, Chernihiv region. Studied at the Odessa Theater and Art School, 1952 - 1959, and the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, 1965 - 1969, with N. Akimov, I. Korotkov and V. Khovraleva. From 1959 to 1965 he worked at the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater and the Odessa Music and Drama Theater. In 1971 - 1981 he taught at the Odessa art school named after Grekov. Participant of exhibitions since 1968. Personal exhibitions took place in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1984, Odessa; 1983, Izmail; in 1972, Bulgaria and 1979, Hungary. One of the brightest representatives of non-conformism. In 2000 was published O. Gubarev's book A Man from Tiraspolskaya Street, dedicated to Y. Kovalenko. The works are kept in the Odessa Art Museum, Odessa Museum of Modern Art, etc. Ukrainian Russian Collectible Non Conformist Artworks.
