Scarce Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action Wesson Favorite revolver, manufactured 1882-1883 and factory shipped in 1895, .44 S&W Russian caliber, top break, 5" round barrel with top rib factory removed along with other weight decreasing removals, bead front sight, rear sight on barrel latch, unique to this model the six round cylinder is marked between the flutes and easily visible: "Smith & Wesson, Springfield Mass USA, Pat'd Jan 17 & 24. 65, July 11 65, Aug 24 69, July 25 71, Dec 2 79, May 11 & 25, 1889," later, but appearing quite old mother-of-pearl grips, scarce original factory lanyard ring at butt, four matched serial numbers at left butt under grip, rear of cylinder, top break latch and back end of barrel below top break latch, retains very little of the original nickel finish, double action is good with cylinder easily cycling properly as are the trigger and hammer, the bore is bright with some visible wear, the LG's are well defined, comes with Smith & Wesson factory letter, NRA condition grade is Very Good to Fine with rarity adding to value, SN 963X ANTIQUE **Note: Anticipating a contract with the Russian Imperial government, Smith & Wesson manufactured approximately 1,000 of these Favorite revolvers in 1882 and 1883 and a limited number were sent to Russia for inspection.
