Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A beautiful and wearable necklace exhibiting dozens of spherical beads formed from semi-translucent, cobalt blue glass. The beads are presented in groups of four that are interspersed with modern gold-plated beads, and groups of five beads are shown just before the terminals. Capped with a gold-plated loop and lobster clasp combo, this is a dazzling example of fine Roman artistry! Size: 19.75" L (50.2 cm); (largest bead): 0.3" W (0.8 cm)
Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s

Condition
Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Glass beads are ancient, and stringing and gold-plated components are modern. Glass beads have light weathering film but are intact and very good. Smooth patina throughout.
