Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A dazzling pair of necklaces each comprised of dozens of Roman glass beads, all boasting rich hues of cobalt and strung on modern strands with lobster claw clasps to be wearable. The first necklace features a series of spherical, ovoid, and barrel beads that gradually increase towards the center where there is a beautiful discoid bead that slightly protrudes from the strand. The second necklace also exhibits beads of sphere, barrel, and ovoid forms, but is speckled with 34 modern tubular beads of a lustrous silver tone that rest between every 3 glass beads, adding a lustrous complement to the piece. An additional 5 modern tubular beads are placed at each end of the strand and 2 modern barrel beads, also of a glistening silver color, flank a pair of spherical glass beads at the center of the necklace, creating a beautiful pendant-like embellishment. A stunning pair of adornments from the ancient Roman Empire with the rare ability to serve as something old, something blue, and something new for a blushing bride! Size of longest necklace: 18.75" L (47.6 cm); Size of largest bead: 0.25" L x 0.2" in diameter (0.6 cm x 0.5 cm)
