Description
**First Time At Auction**

Greece, Classical to Hellenistic period, ca. 500 to 300 BCE; Near East, Persia, ca. 1600 to 1000 BCE; Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE; Central Asia, Scythian culture, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A fine collection of 18 cast bronze and copper alloy projectile points from various ancient cultures that present an interesting array of styles. The 8 Greek points are nicely preserved, displaying socketed trilobate arrow heads. The trilobate point with a tang and red patina, is a Luristan made arrowhead. The 3 Scythian points have diamond profiles with protruding fins, flush socketing shafts, and petite downward pointing barbs near the socket opening. The Persian and arrowheads exhibit petaloid blades with shallow midribs and socketing shaft, and all are enveloped in rich russet and green patinas. Size (Scythian point): 1.75" L x 0.5" W (4.4 cm x 1.3 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
