Three Pastel Works by Sid and Lisa Oakley and Patrick Hurley
oil pastel on paper, one a still life and signed and dated "Oakley '89" at lower right, retains gallery label to verso indicating title and series as "Orange Pot with Flowers" from the Flowers Series; the second also a still life and signed and dated "Patrick / Sid '93" at lower right; the third a seascape and signed "Oakley" at lower right; each matted and framed.
Frame dimensions 27 1/4 x 17 3/4 in. (the first), 18 1/4 x 15 1/2 in. (the second), 31 3/4 x 24 3/4 in. (the third), H 27.25 in. x W 17.75 in. x D 6 in.
Sid Oakley was a native of Granville County, North Carolina. In 1968 he and his wife, Pat, founded Cedar Creek Pottery and Gallery in his home county. Named a North Carolina Living Treasure in 1989, Oakley mentored and championed hundreds, if not thousands, of contemporary artists and craftspeople. He was particularly known for his glazing techniques and his work is in the permanent collections of many major museums.
