Item Details

Description

American Crazy quilt top, stitched of individual blocks with embroidered initials (unknownnames), a date "Jan 27, 1897", flowers, fans, animals, and leaves. There is one block with painted initials. The seam line embroidery stitching is exceptional with a multitude of different designs. Fabrics include a wide variety of suiting wool, challis, sculpted and plain velvets, and some silk. 74 3/4" H x 75" W. Note: The quilt top is unusually large for most crazy quilt projects.

Private Nashville, TN Collection.

Condition

Excellent condition with little fading and fabric deterioration. Some small moth holes are visible along the lower border. The quilt top has not been quilted or backed.
