Description
Eugene Leliepvre (1908-2013), "Escadron Des Cent Gardes" hand colored lithograph: 10.5 x 7.75", frame: 18.75 x 15.75" Â Born in 1908, Eugene Leliepvre experienced the exodus of the Great War and as a child attended the French cavalry charge of the cobbled streets of Lille: there he decided his vocation, military historian. Official Painter of the Army since 1951, Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1998, specialized in uniforms of the old regime, he continues to paint in his studio in Montrouge.
