Impressionist depiction of a man dressed in white in the middle of a large, dense forest. Holder was a renaissance man, actor, dancer, and painter winning a Tony in 1975 for directing and costuming for "The Wiz." As a child, Holder was widely self taught when it came to painting, eventually coming under the direction of his elder brother Boscoe Holder. Soon Boscoe invited people to view Holder's works and was encouraged by the warm reception he received. In 1954 Holder held a successful solo show at Barone Gallery, New York followed by a Guggenheim fellowship award in 1957.
