Sergeant Kendall.New York, Virginia,1869-1938
Depicts a small home beside a dirt path covered by trees from a rocky outcrop. Kendall studied at the Brooklyn Art Guild under Thomas Eakins, eventually following Eakins to the the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts to continue studying. Kendall then went on to study under Harry Siddons Mowbray and J. Carroll Beckwith at the Art Students League before departing for France. His works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Yale University Art Gallery, and the National Museum of American Art Smithsonian amongst others.
