Margaret Jordan Patterson,Massachusetts,1867-1950
Impressionist landscape depicting vibrant foliage along a mountain path. Patterson studied in Boston alongside Charles Woodbury, Hermann Dudley Murphy, and Charles Pepper, taking numerous trips to Europe to sketch for her woodblocks. Patterson taught in Boston Public Schools, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Southbridge, Massachusetts, later becoming Director of the Art Department at the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Signed "Margaret J. Patterson" lower left corner, titled "Hills with Chestnut Trees" on verso.
