English, circa 1820. Large regency era sarcophagus form marquetry inlaid mahogany tea caddy, having double compartments, floral marquetry panel, colorless glass mixing bowl, fitted interior for spoons, and rising on brass ball and claw feet. Unmarked. Provenance: Acquired from Eagles Antiques, Inc. New York, 1989. Copy of receipt available upon request. Approx. h. 8", w. 12.5", d. 6.75".
Condition
Interior panel warped; key is not present; cracks/repairs near hinges; scattered veneer issues/restorations; no apparent chips to bowl.
