Vintage Photo of Deceased Dalton Gang Members After Coffeyville Raid
Postcard (RPPC) of a deceased Bob Dalton & Grat Dalton after being shot and killed at the attempted bank robbery in Coffeyville, Kansas on October 5th, 1892. From the archives of famous Old West photographer John Tackett.
Featuring an AZO stamp, which dates to 1904-1918.
On October 5, 1892, the famous Dalton Gang attempted the daring daylight robbery of two Coffeyville, Kansas banks, including the First National Bank, at the same time. Other than Bob and Grat’s brother Emmett Dalton, who was shot 23 times, the entire gang was killed by quick-acting townspeople.
John Tackett owned a photography studio in Coffeyville, where Tackett would capture the famous images of the Dalton Gang after the Coffeyville raid. Tackett would also go on to collaborate with Emmett Dalton in order to write, film, produce and distribute a movie about the raid.
