William "Buffalo Bill" Cody 2x Signed Display
A 2x signed autograph note signed by American frontiersman William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917), along with a vintage postcard of him, both behind glass in a handsome mahogany-finished frame having gilt filet. Condition issues are elaborated below, else very good. Not examined out of the frame. The overall framed size is 12.875" x 16" x 1."
The lot is comprised of:
1. A Courier Co. black and white vintage postcard with printed signature "W.F. Cody / 'Buffalo Bill' along the bottom margin. Scattered water stains and wrinkles. Several closed tears, clustered at the bottom in a star shape. Sight size 3.875" x 6.125."
2. A paper slip features Cody's dual signature and is inscribed as "With the Compliments / of the Subject / W.F. Cody / 'Buffalo Bill'" at the center. Expected weathering including folds and a few closed tears not touching the handwriting. Sight size 4.75" x 3.25."
William F. Cody's real-life experiences informed his incredibly popular "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" show. Before he was an entrepreneurial showman, Cody served as a Union soldier in the Civil War, Pony Express rider, scout, Indian fighter, and professional hunter who frequently took dangerous assignments that others refused. Cody allegedly earned his moniker "Buffalo Bill" by the ease with which he slayed thousands of the beasts of the Plains.
Two bold autographs, from the man who mythologized the Wild West!
