Antique Fluting/Smoothing Sad Iron and Trivet

Item Details

Description

This Antique Sad Iron with Fluting Tools and Trivet is incredibly rare and difficult to find. The trivet is from W.H. Howell, and the iron is marked PAT'D DEC 12 1871. It has a mechanism on the top which locks the iron closed for flat ironing. When you open the iron, there are plates inserted on each side which were used as a fluting tool. You may see other sad irons out there, but this one is quite the find! PHOTO NOTE- the first two pictures had too much flash- 3 through the end show the actual color.
