Edward Glannon was an American painter and printmaker from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He spent much of his youth roaming through nature. At the age of thirteen, he was sent to monastery school, where he studied with an elderly Franciscan monk who loved painting, which inspired Glannon to pursue the arts. At fifteen he left the school he took up work at a framing shop and visited the Carnegie Museum as often as he could. At twenty-one, he was awarded the Schnakenberg Fellowship, allowing him to study at the Art Students League in New York City under the likes of Kenneth Hayes Miller and Thomas Hart Benton. In addition to inspiring his art, they also inspired him to teach. Glannon taught painting for forty-two years. In 1933 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, enabling him to see more of the country, particularly the West, where he met his wife in North Yellowstone, MT.

Beyond painting and printmaking, Glannon also wrote a number of articles about art and illustrated two children's books - "Everybody Eats" (1946) by Mary McBurney Green and "Guess What's in the Grass" (1945) by Lucy Sprague Mitchell.
