After serving with distinction in the Civil War, most notably as commander of the Union cavalry, Sheridan was transferred west, where he oversaw the settling of the Indians on reservations. He eventually rose to command the United States Army. Ownership marks on front preliminary blanks of George G. Van Alstine of Lansing MI, dated 1889.

Condition

Light rubbing at ends of slightly darkened spines, minor rubbing at extremities; hinges intact, slight stubtear to folding map; a sharp set, very good or better.
