Description
Offered in 1899 by the Parisian firm of Girard, the Omega was the first of the French phonographs to be modeled after the Columbia 'Eagle' Graphophone Model B with the machine mounted to the lid which reverses into the case. Original dove tail corner wood case has been refinished. There are no markings on the machine to indicate manufacturer other that the serial No 17084 stamped on the mechanism with crossed swords. Top works has good nickel plate with some wear. Original winding key. Motor winds and runs. Has unusual vertical governor. Comes with nice Bakelite reproducer named Le Polyglotte Paris 1905 in original cardboard slip case box in excellent condition. Includes original hunter style nickel horn made by G. Kaiser Paris. Horn has been replated. Measures 11.25” X 7.5”
