This amazing machine in its gorgeous mahogany cabinet has been professionally refinished. Has good color and patina and presents well. The top cover opens exposing the elaborate and complicated 12 cylinder mechanism. In addition, the front panel opens exposing the 12 cylinder carousel. The lower portion of the cabinet has a decorative grill which is in very good condition. Both the grill and grill cloth are in very good condition. The cabinet sits atop four cabriole legs. The entire cabinet with its door, grill, and legs are in overall very good condition. Nice and tight with no open corners. In beautiful condition. Inside the top cover is a brass Autophone makers tag. Also included is its original cabinet key. This elaborate and complicated mechanism is spring wound. The spring motor is housed inside of a sheet metal enclosure located in the cabinet. This enclosure has its original maroon paint in good condition with a few chips and scrapes. See photos. The mechanism has a high quality replacement winding crank. The motor winds, runs, plays, starts,stops, indexes and cycles as it should. The start stop knob is located on the right hand side of the cabinet towards the rear. There is a speed control located inside right the cabinet. The spring motor drives the cylinder mechanism via a fine braided steel cable. The elaborate mechanism is both nickel plated and painted with some parts having been replated and repainted. The entire mechanism is clean and presentable and works well. Has its original reproducer with a good stylus. Its small tubular tone arm is attached to a long serpentine papier mache elbow connected to an internal horn which speaks from behind the grill located at the lower front of the cabinet. This magnificent machine was extensively restored back in the 1980's. Very few examples of this machine are known to exist. Cabinet measures 22" W X 21" D X 48" T.
