Description
Lot of three vintage tickets for a lottery held regularly by the Union Canal Co. from 1795-1828. The purpose of the lottery was to help finance construction of the Union Canal, a towpath route that would connect the city of Philadelphia with the Susquehanna River. Construction began in 1792 but due to difficulties of funding it was not completed until 1828. The tickets are 6 x 2.5 in., with registry and combination numbers, dated 1814, 1825, and 1826. One mounted to a larger sheet. Slight toning, else fine.
