Mait Calfou is the personification of Legba, the Loa of the Crossroads
A shoemaker turned artist, Stephane was always interested in re-imagining how pattern influences the use of color. Stephane joined the Centre d'Art, Port-au-Prince, in 1948 continuing to paint Bainet memory scenes from drinking coffee to observations of birds. His art is included in the permanent collections at the College St Pierre, Haiti, and the Milwaukee Art Museum.
