Indian Painting of a Soldier/Prince Ca. 18th-19th century A.D. Size of Frame 13 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches. Painting on paper depicting a standing soldier / prince in profile, having beautifully rendered, finely detailed facial features. Carrying a long sword with a shoulder strap and large round shield having gold painted floral and leaf decoration. Some paint restoration to the lower portion of his shield and skirt of costume. Framed under glass in an old frame. Ex. Edythe Shulman Collection, Boston, MA., acquired 1950s-1960s, then by descent, 1989. Exhibited: Origins Gallery, Newbery St., Boston, between 1959-1970. Gallery records, gifted to Smithsonian Archives.
