Framed and matted color lithograph of Sherman and his generals, distinguished commanders in the Atlanta and Georgia campaigns. Published by Currier & Ives, 1865. Size: 27.5 inches X 21.5 inches. Cond: minor foxing, minor frame chipping.William Tecumseh Sherman, (born February 8, 1820, Lancaster, Ohio, U.S.â€”died February 14, 1891, New York, New York), American Civil War general and a major architect of modern warfare. He led Union forces in crushing campaigns through the South, marching through Georgia and the Carolinas (1864â€“65). Sherman accepted the surrender of all the Confederate armies in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida in April 1865.
