Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip Order of the British Empire Certificate W/Original Envelope and Correspondence - This extremely rare piece of British Royal history is an Order of the British Empire, with autopen signatures of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. This seldom seen document carries the embossed seal of the Order of the British Empire in the top left corner, and the autopen signatures of the Queen top right, and her husband bottom right. The order comes with the original addressed envelope and several documents of correspondence from Buckingham Palace to Miss Joanna Margaret Reader Buxton, who was a British Missionary from Heart of Africa, Congo. The lot includes the 1986 Statutes of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, 1989 Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts certificate to Ms. Buxton, November 1992 letter from the Principal Private Secretary announcing the Prime Minister's plan to recommend Ms. Buxton to the Queen for the Order, and a January 1993 letter and original envelope requesting Ms. Buxton's attendance for a ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The lot is in good original vintage estate condition.
