Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Autlan and Tuxcacuesco-Ortices types ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE; Valley of Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A fine trio of hand-built pottery figures from 2 distinct Pre-Columbian cultures. First is a Colima Tuxcacuesco-Ortices figure standing with delineated legs, both arms crossed in front of the planar chest, and raising their cap-adorned head. Second is a Colima Autlan standing figure, perhaps a dwarf, with attenuated legs, a heavily adorned belt, and a minimalist countenance bearing parted lips and bulging eyes. The largest artifact is a Teotihuacan figural vessel seated with bent legs, holding both arms to the chest, and peering forward with coffee-bean-shaped eyes beneath an incised coiffure. The figure is integral with a squat jar bearing raised curvilinear motifs along the verso. Size of largest (Teotihuacan): 2.27" W x 3" H (5.8 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s to 1960s
