Marion C. Tibbitts (MA, OH, 1875 - ) Watercolor, “Study for Surf Off Andrews Point”. Watercolor, 6 ¾ x 9 ½ in. sight, 14 x 17 in. framed, signed lower left, titled on back. Marion Cornelia Tibbetts was born in Columbus, OH in 1875. She studied at the Ohio State University and the Art Students League in NYC. She was a member of the Columbus Art League, Ohio WC Soc., and Rockport Art Association. She had at least 5 single artist shows during the 1930’s -50’s. In 1953 she had a solo exhibition of 50 of her oil paintings at the Terrace Lounge of the Ohio Union. She spent time in Rockport, MA where she painted local scenes. The ocean and seashore at Andrews Point were the subject of a number of her watercolors.
