Marion Boyd Guthrie (1920-2014) Original Watercolor "Westward". Tall Sail, blue tones, watercolor painted c. 1950. White frame and mat from the Artist's Gallery in Kennett Square, PA. . Measures 12"x15"x 1/2". Weight 2 pds. Guthrie was primarily a watercolorist who lived and worked in Kennett Square, PA She is known for her local scenes of Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Marion was a graduate of Washington School of Art and the Northwestern Academy of Watercolor. She was a member of the Brandywine River Museum, National League of American Pen Women, Center for the Creative Arts, Pennsylvania Society of Watercolor Painters, Chestertown Art League, Chester County Art Association, and the Studio Group. The Studio Group is a group of female artists working out of the Howard Pyle studio on Franklin Street in Wilmington, Delaware. Exhibition history includes: Bicentennial Exhibit NLAPW, Washington DC, Hotel DuPont, Brandywine River Museum, University of Delaware, Philadelphia Sketch Club, Academy of Arts - Easton, MD, New England Fine Arts Institute - Boston, MA
