Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Red Dragon motif porcelain brush washer. Potted in brush washer shape, sturdily in globular body, thick potted, heavy on the mid, deep curvature, slight tall and gentle upward to wide straight opening lip, raised on small flat round foot base. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the red fine color, depicted of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a red color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. Red is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. The red color of the packet symbolizes good luck, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. Mark on base, a six under glazed blue seal script Zhuanshu characters reign mark, Made In The Years of QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
