Oskar W. Fischinger (1900-1967), "Musical waves", Circa 1929/1930
Measuring 11" x 8.75" (sight), No place, undated [Ca. 1929-1930]. A charcoal drawing on wafer-thin paper, mounted on cardboard, and matted to the overall size of 17" x 14". With an estate stamp on verso, along with an inscription in the hand of his wife, Elfriede Fischinger. Very fine. Accompanied by an original exhibition flyer and program for "Optical Poetry: Paintings, Drawings, Films", held in Lost Angeles from April 17-May 30, 1998.
The German-American artist Oskar W. Fischinger (1900-1967) was a filmmaker and avant-gardist of abstract film. He became famous for his art film 'Optical poem' (1937).
