Hand–colored engraved map (17 ½ x 21 ½”), detailing the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg presented in an oval strapwork border with two cherubs holding an ornate banner cartouche aloft, with sailing ships and a sea monster nearby (evenly toned, small tear to outer border slightly affecting map area). From Ortelius’ Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, the first modern atlas of the world. Presented in a double glass frame. –– [ALSO WITH:] BLAEU, Willem Janszoon. Lusatia Superior [AND:] Saxonia Superior Cum Lusatia et Misnia. Circa 1635 and 1640. Both engraved maps with hand–coloring. Each handsomely framed with museum glass. Attractive examples.
