Charcoal drawing with white chalk highlights on light blue pastel paper laid down on cardboard, haystacks with frost, signed* and dated (Claude Monet, 1840-1926). 7 3/4 x 10 3/8 inches. Good condition overall, having no apparent repairs. Removed from frame for inspection and shipping. Sold unframed.

Provenance: Ex-collection Abel Lauvray, presumably acquired directly from the artist, who was Lauvray's neighbor. Acquired from the latter by Andre Mavon (Saint-Honore, Paris) and subsequently by the consignor's father, a West Coast collector who was a long time friend and client of Mavon's. Thence by descent to the current owner.

Lot Note: The present drawing is very similar to another drawing, also from the Lauvray collection which we sold in May 2020, the most significant difference being the addition of the white chalk highlights.
