A Fine carved wooden headrest with classic form and design of the Zulu, though may in fact be from their neighbors the Swazi , who carve similar headrest in style to the appearance of the Zulu. Swazi headrests are usually 2 legs that appear to fluted with vertical grooves. The Swazi and the Zulu share many cultural patterns. The headrest measures 18 x 6 inches. Provenance: From the collection of art historian Evan Maurer, co-author of Tabwa: The Rising of a New Moon & The Intelligence of Forms: An Artist Collects African Art.
