For your consideration is a stunning artist signed, hand painted Pirkenhammer porcelain portrait plate. This outstanding example has a central medallion depicting two young boys snacking on freshly gathered fruit in the company of their attentive canine companion. The lower edge of the portrait is signed "F. Siebel". The portrait is surrounded by heavy parcel gilt details accenting verdant green and regal red period flourishes and floral decorations. The back of the plate carries the Pirkenhammer maker's mark used between 1893 and 1918. Additionally, the plate carries a faux Imperial and Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Vienna mark - the 'beehive' mark as it is sometimes referred to. As this was the premier porcelain manufacturer of the region and time, many other manufacturers also 'used' this mark on their high-end wares to appeal to would-be patrons. Regardless of this marking, this offering is of the highest quality and craftmanship. The plate measures 9 1/2" in diameter and weighs 1 pound.
