Signed and inscribed by Eliza London Shepard at the half-title: "To the mother of two of the sweetest girls I know. My love to you - Eliza London Shepard." Eliza Shepard was Jack London's beloved step-sister who came to the ranch in 1910, acting as the ranch superintendent and continued until her death in 1939. This copy with a photograph of Jack London with his holograph signature mounted to the front free endpaper, and his wolf's head bookplate on the front pastedown.
