Description
For your consideration are a pair of signed Cowan art pottery bookends in the form of elephants. These Art Deco elephants are a matched set while one is modeled to push the books together with his head while the other leans on the books with his backside. The ivory coloration of these bookends is beautiful and has tinges of light pink throughout. The bookends are signed with an impressed round Cowan maker's mark on their front edges. Likely, these figures were designed by Margaret Postgate circa the 1920's. Each bookend is 5 1/2"(w) x 3 3/4"(d) x 4 3/4"(h). The weight of both bookends is 4 pounds, 2 ounces. Books not included in auction.
