Description
An Egyptian limestone figure, Ptolemaic, c. 332 - 30 BC, in the form of a seated male figure wearing a side lock, possibly a depiction of Harpokrates, clutching his greatly exaggerated phallus with both hands. A nice example with some remaining traces of pinkish-red pigment. H: 2 1/8 in (5.4 cm). Light deposits. Ex Christies, London, 1980’s; Ex Tetragon, London; Ex Arte Primitivo, NY.
